Ugli Gin

Try a moderate, but not excessive, pour over ice in a Paris goblet wine glass. Don't think about tonics or mixers until you have sampled it neat. Even better, make sure the gin and the glass have been cooled and forget the ice.

It is one of the most restrained, intriguing and sophisticated gins I have ever had.
The ugli does not overwhelm - it adds subtelty and finesse.

The blurb says "playful" but I prefer "intriguing". Maybe even "siren songed" - it calls me back in.

I don't think it needs a mixer, and indeed I think a mixer might overwhelm it, but maybe a glass of a mixer, or a virgin cocktail, served alongside, might be the approach.

Maybe a couple of drops of juice from a freshly-pressed sour cherry would work? Hmmmmm - not successful so far!

But now for the real left-field approach - try it with the Canter-brie cheese from the Geraldine cheese company, suitably matured and almost ready to ooze.

Gin and brie? My head is still spinning!!! And both from Geraldine?

Get some warmongers round this on a table and watch peace break out!!

And now for the real shock - this is the gin for the malt whisky enthusiast! Don't serve it too cold, or with a mixer,
and be prepared to experience many of the flavours and sensations of single-barrel malt whisky. Not, of course, the heavily-sherried Speyside malts, but perhaps Clynelish from Brora or some other lighter southern malts. Don't let citrus flavours overwhelm but
experience the firm mouth-feel and enjoy the feeling of relaxation.

Will definitely be buying more. I do enjoy a citrus gin, and the flavours are definitely there. We received wonderful service in store, provided with suggestions on different mixers I might enjoy. My family all love the gin - the bottle is emptying faster than I'd like!

Having brought the Humdinger Ugli Gin (never heard of the Ugli fruit before) as a gift for Christmas, I was lucky enough to be asked to make a couple of gins & see what it’s like;

Ice, tonic, juicy lemons really cap off a fantastic gin!
Tasty. Refreshing. Perfect for summer. VERY drinkable.
